How long ago are you talking about? I was referring to modern times, the time after the WW2.

However, even before the time after WW2, the region wasn't peaceful, as all regions in the world, the Ottomans conquered many regions with violence (obviously) and there were uprisings against them.

After the WW2, the region was full of conflicts between the new countries and between factions within countries. The Iran-Iraq war, civil wars and uprisings in Iraq, Kurdish uprisings, civil war in Lebanon, civil war in Yemen (in the 60s), civil war in Algeria, uprising in Syria (in the 80s), everywhere there were violent conflicts.

As I said, I know the U.S. made things worse, but the ME was very violent before too.

That is kinda my point. I know the Jewish settlers in the 19th and early 20th century stole the land (there was the expulsion of Arabs in 1947-48), but this happened in the past, there's no right to get that land back after more than 70 years.

The Germans lost land after 1945 (to Poland), and no German today has a "right to return" to the former German territories in Poland. I know that Germany started the war, but the Israel-Palestine conflict has a long story too. Both parties (Jews and Arabs) were fighting each other for decades before 1948. The Jews won the war in 1948 and the Arabs were expulsed. That was bad, but it's 70 years ago, Israel has a right to exist today.
