It depends on location and what type of doctor. I grew up in a small ish town (70k pop) and the ER doctor was a borderline celebrity. In highschool he came to do a don't be a dumbass and end up on the ER presentation, and in the QNA someone asked about if he stays in touch with his patients, and he claimed that almost every time he goes out to the grocery store he will have a former patient approach him.


Just imagine your on a first date at a park or something and some dude comes up to you and says "hey doc thanks for saving my life the other day."


Plus something about it sounds like more of a flex for a women. "MY husband's a DOCTOR" just sounds better than "my husband's a programmer/engineer/marketing manager." Even though all those jobs can make as much as doctors.

More practical examples of status is things such as having a nice house, having a nice car, going on expensive holidays, expensive gadgets and expensive clothes. While fame is the best form of status to have, because if your famous you can easily make money. And if your famous you have probably already made alot of money.
