Overall Verdict
PRP isnt snake oil, but it has legitimate and biological reasoning behind it, the best option while doing it would be to not do it alone, and use minoxidl, other oils and other shit with it. mostly minoxidl though
TLDR
PRP is a hair treatment where your blood is drawn, concentrated for its platelets and growth factors, and injected into thinning areas of the scalp to stimulate hair follicles. It can potentially increase hair density, improve thickness, and strengthen miniaturised hairs, especially when follicles are still active. A typical course is around 3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, with results generally taking a few months to become noticeable. PRP can be combined with minoxidil to promote growth, and for adults with confirmed male-pattern hair loss, treatments such as finasteride can target DHT while PRP supports the follicles. It is non hormonal, uses your own blood, and common effects are temporary scalp tenderness, redness and swelling. In the UK, it commonly costs around £75–£300 per session, so a 3-session course can be roughly £225–£900.
Mid effort post, only did this because PRP is usually ignored during treating hairloss, and is not known by everybody. Getting the word out and making a post so people dont become baldcels

PRP = Platelet-Rich Plasma
The basic process is:
If youre worried about "im injecting a foreign drug into my scalp" no youre not, its your own blood
Does PRP work?
yeah, it fucking does, but its like hgh, results are inconsistent. Evidence has become more encouraging over time, but PRP has 1 large problem.
clinics that offer PRP can use different:
The basic process is:
- A small amount of your blood is taken.
- It is placed in a centrifuge to separate its components.
- The platelet-rich portion is collected.
- It is injected into areas of the scalp where hair is thinning.

Why would you want PRP?
PRP gives you thicker hair, more dense hair, more growth, and healthier hair in general. Why wouldnt you want it? At nearly all ages women prefer men that are not bald. there are many studies of this. One of these is a study by PUBMED, and the result was pretty striking: over 90% of respondents perceived balding men as older and less attractive, and women were significantly more likely than non balding men to consider balding men less attractive. Here it is, study by pubmed.
Another reason you might want it is that it is not hormonal. it does not affect your dick like finasteride does, or doesnt touch your DHT, doesnt cause headaches, or any shit like that. keep reading for the side effects, which is probably the best part
Who should get PRP
this might aswell be the most important part when considering it. PRP does not magically grow hair in smooth bald areas, or treat long standing advanced baldness. PRP cannot magically recreate a follicle that no longer exists. However, as i listed in the title "28 and under" considering most men that are 28 and under are just now getting their hair thinning, they would be perfect candidates. this is because PRP treats somebody with miniaturised hairs, a thinning crown, early hairline recession, follicles that are still producing weak hairs and early to mild to moderate thinning. This is just about one of the most important aspects to consider when having PRP, is your age, or more importantly the stage your hair follicles are in. People under the age of 28 might not want to use finasteride, or other hormonal products at a young age, even though DHT becomes less important after the age 17-18, you still might not want to nuke it, because it is an important sex drive hormone, and sex keeps the relationship healthy as yall know

Combinations
The single greatest combination you can do with PRP would be minoxidl. the holy grail, the best ever, minoxidl. Minoxidl has substantially more established clinical use for pattern loss. I doubt anyone here challenges that minoxidl stimulates hair growth and strengthens existing hairs, however i will still list a study by The American Academy of Dermatology here.
What about finasteride? Why wouldnt we use finasteride? It does stop hairloss in its tracks does it not? Yes, it does, but there is a massive problem, which is that your sex drive is affected massively, around 1% to 10% of users are met with erectile dysfunction and low libido. Sex is a massive aspect of marriage that should never be ignored. Every women would want to have sex with their partner unless there is some trauma hidden behind it or some other changes, and if you cant provide her what she requires, shes going to sneak out at night for chad.
Another thing finasteride does is that there is a chance for Gyno, or Gynecomastia, and knowing that a large, very large number of people in this forum go to the gym, this is a massive nerf.
One more thing finasteride causes is that it affects your mental health and mood. It can cause Depression and anxiety. i will list the source, however this srouce is for women, and that i would not take this side effect very seriously as these symptoms in men are very rare, here it is
Pairing it with microneedling
I would consider this a must, it is seen everywhere online when considering PRP, because obviously it has a high chance of more hair follicles growing. You should DEFINITELY do this if you consider PRP

What does a typical PRP course look like?
PRP is done in sessions, results dont come straight away. Sessions are done typically withing 4-6 weeks of each other, so:
Session 1 -------(wait 3-6 weeks)----> session 2 -----(another 3-6 weeks)-----> Session 3 ------------> See results and evaluate response--------> maintenance treatments
Many Clinics recommend around 3-6 initial sessions, and then periodic maintenance. You should avoid clinics that state "3 injections guarantees growth" as it is suspicious

How long until you see results?
Dont expect MASSIVE hair growth 2 weeks after your first session, growth comes in slowly, just like everything else. Realistically, its months, not weeks. Results are real and dont deny them, the science is real and if youre a non-responder (very very unlikely, its your own blood), then consider a trip to turkey jfl.
Side effects
The good thing about prp, is that the side effects are very low risk compared to mostly all other hair loss treatments.
Is it Painful?
id describe it as uncomfortable, since your getting a bunch of tiny injections into your scalp. However it really does matter of the clinic, if they use anaesthetic or cooling or other pain control methods.
The Procedure
here is what it looks like in a normal clinic
and this is a more expensive clinic, more injetions, better needle

Very common/expected
- scalp tenderness
- soreness
- redness
- swelling
- small bumps at injection sites
- temporary headache/discomfort
Less common
- bruising
- bleeding
- infection
- significant inflammation
- temporary worsening of scalp discomfort

Costs
Costs vary massively between clinics, since it is private corporations after all, most clinics in the UK, cheaper ones offer 100-75 per session, the more expensive ones offer about 200 per session, so the costs really do vary. Costs might be the place where people can really change their mind on PRP, even since minoxidl is much cheaper and has much more evidence backing it, and it is totally understandable, im saying prp is a great combination to use with minoxidl, and it obviously doesnt stop balding, but SIGNIFICANTLY slows it down.
