PSA: Social media has completely warped how you think about sourcing peptides

Disclaimer: This post is for harm reduction and informational purposes only. I'm not endorsing, promoting, or instructing anyone to purchase unregulated substances. Peptides sold outside of a licensed medical/pharmacy channel are sold as "research chemicals" and are not intended for human consumption. If you're considering peptides for health, performance, or aesthetic reasons, the actual correct move is just dont get into it This is strictly to inform people already aware of the grey market about how predatory and deceptive it's become so they don't get scammed, poisoned, or worse. Do with this what you will.
Been lurking the peptide scene for a while and need to say this. The way IG, TikTok, and even some subs talk about grey market peptides is genuinely delusional. Everyone's acting like you can just DM some guy with a slick feed and get pharma-grade BPC-157 or reconstituted GHK-Cu shipped to your door no problem.

most of what's being pushed online is either underdosed, bunk, bacteriostatic water with a pinch of something, or straight up mislabeled. The "research chem" loophole exists for a reason and these vendors know most buyers won't third-party test anything. A clean COA posted on a website means nothing if it's not batch-specific and from an accredited lab you can actually verify.

And even then Janoshik tests get fabricated all the time. Vendors photoshop results, swap batch numbers, reuse old COAs for new batches, or straight up make the document from scratch. If you can't independently verify the COA directly with the lab (Janoshik actually has a verification system, use it), assume it's fake.

Scams have evolved way beyond send-crypto-and-block.

  • You pay, package "ships," then suddenly it's stuck in customs and they need another $300 to "clear" it. Pay that and there's another fee. And another.
  • Minimum order bait — package "can't ship" unless you add more to hit some fake threshold. You're already in so you add more. Now you're twice as deep with nothing to show.
  • Vendor goes vague the second money moves. Straight answers before payment, one-word replies after. Tracking numbers that don't resolve, excuses about "reshipping policy," endless delays until you give up.
  • Fake "insurance" or "reshipment guarantee" fees that conveniently come up only after the first package "gets seized."
  • Vendor vagueness in general is the biggest red flag. If they can't tell you the synth source, the lab that tested the specific batch, or give a straight answer about peptide purity without dodging, simply walk.
If the vendor's price list has every peptide known to man it's a scam. No single Chinese lab can synthesize the entire market. Peptides developed in Russia (Semax, Selank, Bromantane-adjacent compounds), Australia (AOD-9604), niche research peptides from specific academic sources real synth houses specialize. They have a focus, a limited catalog, and they'll openly tell you what they can and can't source. If a vendor has Retatrutide, Tirzepatide, Semax, Epithalon, PT-141, Melanotan II, BPC, TB-500, GHK-Cu, every GLP variant, every growth hormone secretagogue, AND niche nootropic peptides all under one roof at the same tier of purity they're either reselling from 10 different low-grade sources or faking the inventory entirely. Legit vendors are narrow, not infinite.

If you do go this route:
  • Assume every vendor is guilty until proven innocent
  • Batch-specific COAs are the bare minimum, not a flex and always verify them directly with the lab, don't trust the image alone
  • Reconstitution math, storage, sterile technique if you don't know this cold, you're not ready
  • Community reputation takes years to build and 1 bad batch to destroy. Be skeptical of anyone blowing up fast
  • Price too good = it's fake or underdosed. Real peptides from legit synth are not cheap
  • Any "extra fee after payment" is a scam. No exceptions. Real vendors don't work like that.

The ones who actually find something credible? They spent months reading, cross-referencing lab tests, talking to people who've been in it for years, and still got burned a few times along the way. It's not a plug-and-play thing.

Legit path exists but it's gatekept by effort, not secrets. Anyone promising otherwise on social is selling you something.

Stay safe, do the work, or don't bother.
