The report states that once you account for neighborhood characteristics, poverty levels, and other social determinants, the disparities shrink.
Research on Neighborhood Effects: A classic study by sociologists Ruth Peterson and Lauren Krivo, detailed in their book Divergent Social Worlds, found that whites and Blacks living in communities with similar levels of disadvantage have much more similar homicide rates.
