Question about lens distortion

Why is it that if I take photos with 3x zoom at 1 meter to the mirror, my ratios like total fwhr or mouth to nose are bad, but from further away with 4-5x zoom they are normal?I

Isn't that distance enough to eliminate lens distortion in theory?

I have a mouth to nose of 1.33 in that photo and total fwhr is 1.3

Mouth to nose around 1.46 here and around 1.33 total fwhr
