I'm trying to get into the gym, when you guys count calories to build muscle how on point do you have to be? Also can a skinny fat person build decent muscle on maintence calories or even a caloric deficit if they have little to no muscle?

slight calorie surplus 500ish

depends on ur bf% rn

if ur above 20% just do a quick cut

then get to slight surplus
 
500 seems like alot bro, thats like 1/4 of my maintenance
its half a pound of month

dosen't have to be exactly 500

make sure u also get 1g of protein per lb

if you work out a fuck ton, eat a fuckton of protein, you will gain somewhere around there a month its just really easy to get bloated and shit with a surplus that big

i been tracking my macros for more than 2 years

250-500 is a good surplus

couldnt be me tracking macros and calories is so hard but ill probably have to when i start seriously gymcelling

it has a macro tab w protein, sodium, carbs, fat etc

u get used to logging everytime eat

if you're young just make sure you're getting enough protein a day to build muscle fk the rest, if you're skinny fat i'd do a mini cut.

Can you give me your age/height/weight ?

If you are natty you can't eat protein in excess , you will end up getting fat.

What you have to do is eat your maintenance callories ( adjust callories if you need more ) , try 1 g of protein per pound of bodyweight , train hard ( 3 x a week for a beginner is good ) and drink enough water.
 
i would maintenance high protein high fats ( mufa and saturated fats) or slight 100-200 deficit , +500kcal is deathtier , you need only 100-200+cals everyday to build muscle everything else becomes fat but because you are skinnyfat for now you need to lose fat and build muscle at the same time . Also Tmaxx

im cutting for 2 months and then maintaining or eating 100-200 surplus tbh.

You don't have to do any of those things. No need to track calories. Are you gaining weight and looking more muscular? Then it's working.
Eventually do you are going to have to start dialing in your diet a bit. But you don't really need to be that precise just have an idea of how much youare eating.
