the answer to your second question is no, there is no privacy and there hasn't been for a long time. if the feds are REALLY after you they will get you.
however if you are an average joe schmoe who hasn't done anything crazy illegal online (and even if you have it's still doubtful you'll get into trouble), you'll be good
