What cities or towns are worth visiting in aside from Amsterdam?

I have already visited the capital once and I’m currently planning a Benelux round trip for spring break, I was thinking maybe I could visit some Dutch places other than Amsterdam (I’ll spend a day in the capital).

Is Utrecht or Rotterdam worth a visit? What about Haarlem? The Hague?

Utrech, Delft, Maastricht and The Hague come to my mind.

Those two are already on my list. After finishing in the Netherlands I plan to continue south into Belgium, first Antwerp, them Michelen. I got an airbnb in Ghent, I will use it as a base to explore the city along with Bruges.

I’ll probably skip Brussels, I have read overwhelmingly negative things about the city.

Is Brussels safety really as bad the media makes it out to be? I’m refering to infamous neighbourhouds like Molenbeek

I’ve just looked up Leuven, it looks really nice too, I might also give it a visit. I really mire how fast you can get around with trains in Belgium :feelsautistic:

Then we are good. I thought you knew. I’d say Rotterdam and Utrecht are nice cities to visit. Rotterdam especially stands out because it’s a modern city whereas other cities are more historical. If you want to visit a nice city that’s also historical I would recommend Leiden as well, it’s 40 minutes away from Rotterdam by train. I live in Rotterdam myself so perhaps I am biased but I was never a fan of Amsterdam due to all the tourists (yeah I know, ironic since I’m not even Dutch by blood and I say this).

tilburg/eindhoven is mehhh. avoid. wouldnt go unless ur visiting for an event.

's hertogenbosch is okay, but the before mentioned places are better.

Jealous of Europeans how easy and cheap it is to travel from one country to another

cheapest round trip to another province here costs like $700-800 and then other expenses

I think I will make a stop in Utrecht on my way to Amsterdam (I will fly in to Eindhoven)

Maastricht / Limburg seems really cozy but it’s in the opposite direction so I’ll keep it for next time maybe.

Ive become a travel addict in the last 1-2 years, not in small part because of how stupidly cheap it is if you know how to plan well

On this journey my plane ticket to get there costs 15$ and 20$ back respectively, its a joke tbh

Do you speak Dutch or French? Obviously it doesn't matter but I have always found that locals really appreciate when you speak the native language. Maybe that doesn't apply to the low countries though because of how English-friendly they are.

It can be a good gesture, from my experiences people love it when you try to communicate with them in their own language instead of English, even if its wonky. Its more about the intention. I think its respectful to learn basic phrases if you are visiting a place.

I do speak French but it won’t help me this time as I will only be wandering around Flanders, I won’t be visiting the French speaking Walloon part of Belgium.

Rotterdam is a ugly shithole.
Utrecht and The Hague are nice, imo.

Groningen is nice also, bit far away. Same with Maastricht.

Yes. I have already visited Amsterdsm before with mates but this time instead of clubbing I’m looking for historical architecture and will also visit museums (I love art), so I will go alone to keep my focus on the topic.

Very based. I'm still young so just go on boys holidays with the intention of slaying but I look forward to this sort of methodical solo travel I will do in a few years.
