How do you know your Confession is the true Confession?

How do you know your religion is the true religion?

I do because of what I've read in the holy book and the religious writings.
I don't know what your confession or true confession is.

In my case because it's practiced by the majority and is what the Prophet's life consisted of aka the sunnah.

A Christian confession that I think is "acceptable" are jehovah witnesses and non-trinitarians

An opinion of who is the successor is hardly the main issue with Shias today.
Cursing and takfiring Sahabah [people close to the prophet] and his wives is not allowed, which is practiced by Twelver shias [the majority].
Examples of kuffr with Shiites

1. Believing Allah made a mistake and wahi was supossed to come to Hazrat Ali (Radi Allaho Anho) Astagfirullah.
2. Considering Quran to be edited/Incomplete.
3. Openly cursing Prophet's wife Ayesha, and Companions of Prophet Muhammed other then Ali.
4. Those whom lie to other sects of Muslim as part of Islam.

Zaydi Shias and other ones are good Muslims.

So there are differences in beliefs and practices.
But how do you know which beliefs and practices are wrong and which not ?

The Quran NEVER CONDONED this stuff and thus doesn't support it.
The Quran says Muhammad PBUH is the final messenger, you aren't allowed to curse the sahabah or the family of the Prophet. Believing the QURAN or ahadith is incomplete or Allah made a mistake is NOT ALLOWED.

THIS is outlined in the ahadith and quran and sunnah.

I asked the very same question in school, during religion class, and all the other students laughed at me, the teacher looked at me like I was crazy and explained to me in a condescending voice that "orthodoxy" is the true religion because the word comes from Ancient Greek: "orthos" means right and doxa means "faith", therefore orthodoxy is the only true and right faith and religion.

They believe the ahadith of the sunnah is wrong. It goes further than just difference in succession.

Dawud :: Book 40 : Hadith 4579

Narrated AbuHurayrah:

The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: The Jews were split up into seventy-one or seventy-two sects; and the Christians were split up into seventy one or seventy-two sects; and my community will be split up into seventy-three sects.

Indeed, those who have divided their religion and become sects - you, [O Muhammad], are not [associated] with them in anything. Their affair is onlyto Allah ; then He will inform them about what they used to do. [6:159]

And indeed, there is among them a party who alter the Scripture with their tongues so you may think it is from the Scripture, but it is not from the Scripture. And they say, "This is from Allah ," but it is not from Allah . And they speak untruth about Allah while they know.[3:78]

Say, "O People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and you - that we will not worship except Allah and not associate anything with Him and not take one another as lords instead of Allah ." But if they turn away, then say, "Bear witness that we are Muslims [submitting to Him]."[3:64]

It can be primarily attributed to those whom grow up with said bias and live by it.
I couldn't say specifically, but scholars who are shiites say

So some reject and some don't but the cursing is in their books and it's because they believe in Allah's divine will.
