I remember my dad one time told me this quote. “In life, there are no such thing as friends. Only acquaintances.” Basically saying you can never really trust anyone you meet. What do you guys think about this quote?

I wouldn't call it acquaintances but rather alliances. Friends don't exist, they're alliances, meaning it can make or break, they're useful to keep but precarious if the unspoken treaty goes south.

trust is always a risk, but that doesn’t mean real friendships don’t exist. some people prove they’re reliable over time, and those connections can be worth it. it just takes patience and good judgment to know who’s genuine.
