If you have a tall ramus, you're going to have a relatively tall chin even with a 90 degree gonial angle, therefore tall ramus is superior to tall chin on it's own since tall ramus implies both
A Tall Ramus also means your jaw is likely to look wide from the front, a short ramus means it's more likely for your jaw to look narrow from the front
Posterior mandible is low compared to chin: jaw as a whole looks more robust
Posterior mandible is high compared to chin: jaw looks more fragile and narrow
I never realized the full extent of my ramus height because I had comical chin height due to underbite growth pattern, when my chin height was reduced and posterior mandible was now lower relative to chin, (aka the change was the chin was made higher relative to posterior mandible) my jaw suddenly looked more robust and square
