I have one question.

Why does the width of the jaw reduces when jaw surgeons orientates the oblique ridge medial while the gonion goes lateral? It’s hard to explain but basically the posterior part of the ramus goes outward while the anterior part goes inward. I’ve analysed several before and after cases where the surgeon has done these orientations, on the cbct it looks like the jaw should be wider but the reality tells a different story, the width gets reduced and the jaw more narrow. Could it be because this part of the masseter gets a more medially inclination?

Look at the example.

but why does the anterior part go inward? is this a setback case? With bsso the oblique ridge part should turn outwards and gonion widen a little bit in theory

No it isn’t, this particular other case isn’t either, this is a 8 mm advancement yet the orientation are the anterior part(oblique ridge) goes inward and gonion outward. In reality this person did also get reduced width.

I can’t comprehend what makes it narrower.

i can't even comprehend why the anterior part would go inward lmao. it looks like some condyle torque is being performed here to flare the gonions.
As for why the jaw looks narrower, it could be that masseter atrophies from inactivity because you can't chew
