I’ve been naked in front of friends, strangers, and even family at points in my life, but I had never been to a nude beach before. A friend of mine learned this and knew of a clothing optional beach just outside of our city. He took me out there and made a day of it. After we found a spot and laid out our things, we stripped off and it felt great. It was very liberating. I had been skinny dipping before, but never so publicly and in front of others. It was of course mostly older men who were also nude, but there was the occasional woman nude, or just topless. I figured I didn’t want to just sit around all day, so I took a walk along the shore while my friend stayed with our stuff and sunbathed. It was nerve wracking but also incredible.
Except once I heard someone called out my name. I very quickly made the plan to just keep walking and act like I didn’t hear them or act like it wasn’t me. But I heard my name called again louder. So I stopped and turned. It was my older sister. I was a deer in headlights. She came walking down towards me, her in a full one piece swimsuit, me in nothing but a hat. I wanted to die. I love my sister, and she is nothing if not loving and supportive, but I wanted to sprint away. She was delighted to see me, but obviously hesitated to go for a hug, and asked what I was doing there. As I stumbled for words, she carried the conversation saying she was with friends and in fact guided me over to them. They were all 30-ish year old moms like my sister who looked very out of place on this beach in their full swimsuits, and we’re obviously very amused to see me. But when my sister introduced me as her brother, their eyes lit up. They were very polite, but I could tell they wanted to laugh.
The embarrassment began to overwhelm me, so I quickly said nice to meet them as I began to scamper back towards where my I came. But my sister hurried after me, wanting to chat and catch up since we don’t see or talk to each other all that often. I didn’t know what to do, so I just went along with the conversation as normally as I could. Eventually she addressed the elephant in the room and asked if I attended this beach often. I told her this was my first time, and she asked if I had been to a nude beach before. When I admitted that this was my first time ever, she turned bright red from embarrassment and began apologizing profusely for making my first time so weird. She just assumed I was a regular because of how casual I acted. I chuckled and told her I was very embarrassed but, it wasn’t a big deal. She said that she fully supported the choice to shed clothes, but her mom body didn’t quite give her the confidence to partake anymore. This just happens to be the closest beach to her house. At this point, I had actually relaxed quite a bit and was able to continue the conversation comfortably as we caught up. After a bit, I told her I had to get back to my friend and she returned to hers. But she made sure to tell me that I should let her know the next time I came so we could go together. I laughed, but she was being genuine. I had to tell her that I probably wouldn’t do the nude brother clothed sister thing again. She chuckled saying maybe she’d have the courage to join me next time.
When I got back to our stuff, my friend couldn’t help but laugh when I told him where I was for so long. He has never let me live it down. I haven’t been back to that beach since, and I also haven’t spoken to my sister since. But I’m due to see her and the rest of our family for the holidays, so we’ll see how that goes…
