Rap appeals to low IQ and/or people with single moms. If you listen to the lyrics it's basically just "I'm so great, don't mess with me, I'm my own boss" you can literally hear the single moms talking when you listen to rappers. It's the exact same Dunning-Kruger Effect nonsense loser men say when they have no discipline growing up.

There is statistical correlation supporting this theory too;

a) Rap being popular with demographics with high numbers of single parent households (poor/black/hispanic)

b) Rap's overall popularity and prevalence of single parent households increasing over time

Rap was created by the people with the single moms, obviously it appeals to them
it's just correlation at that point

and you can easily make an argument that there's a HUGE amount of middle class suburban rap fans in the present day, not so earlier on but today? absolutely. Almost every piece of american music now has heavy hip hop influence, it wouldn't be unfair to say now that basically every modern pop song is also hip hop.

Now that changes if you're talking specifically about gangsta rap/drill rap
but again I would just say it's correlation, the people who that appeals to are the people who originated it, and those people tend to come from single mother households more often than other groups. At that point you're only technically correct

but now what I'll REALLY say is: if you're worried about iq/hard work/etc you're bluepilled as shit and you need to gtfo of here, the only thing that matters in this world is your face.

This is more like the Overton window.

Outcasts from polite society make something new
The rebels pick it up and make it cool
The normies jump on the bandwagon

You can see this process play out with a lot of things, online dating for example, nerds made tinder, rebels made it cool, normies saturated it.
