The lighting is pretty normal here, if I wanted good lighting I would have either bright orange light in my face to add contrast or light from above and behind for more hollow cheeks

That’s fair, but it’s relatively rare to have very hollow checks so people overrate it when they do see it. It’s also been a known beuty standard for ages. I’m also biased because it helps me cope for having a giant nose and below average eye area

Yeah my facial features are very average, but harmony and angularity help make up for it.
