He has ancestry on his mother’s side with the Worimi tribe, based around Newcastle, and has been enjoying researching his family history over the last 12 months.

I’ve had plenty of talks with my Mum about it and it is really interesting to find out more about my family ancestry,” Doggett said.

“I am very proud of my background and I am very keen to embrace my indigenous links.”
