a pashtun and tajik from logar will look more similar to one another than to a pashtun from kandahar or to a tajik from balkh

yeah it's province/region dependent when it comes to looks, you have to realize languages like persian/pashto/punjabi etc. are just languages that have consumed their respective regions and those groups serve more as ethno-linguistic groups rather than discrete and disjoint groups
