Back sleeping is irrelevant to sphenoid rotation, this assymetry is mostly gonna be from imbalanced usage as you touched on. I recommend side sleeping with your temple resting on the pillow.sleep on ur back, chew on both sides especially if you chew gum alot, don’t rest ur hand on ur jaw, have good posture and mewing, a lot of daily habits can fix an asymmetrical face by alot
