Don't really care about communism or capitalism tbh, for me it's a matter of love for the motherland.

Whichever ideology will bring my motherland to the fore of humanity, is the one I shall support.
I understand that. It's kind of like what the Vietnamese did with Communism. For them, Communism was the only thing that would ensure the Vietnamese people themselves would have autonomous control over their homeland. Communism might have done that for the Chinese people too, in the beginning. Times have changed though. You might be backing a losing horse.

I don't see it. Whereas the US is religiously tied to capitalism, democracy, and freedom, even when it harms them, China is not bound by ideology and will implement whatever it sees fit. It embraced capitalism by opening up to the world. Now it is embracing socialism by clamping down on billionaires. Both were right decisions.

Everything that has come from mankinind has both a good hand and a bad hand. No implementation of anything from us has ever been purely good. The only thing that matters concerning these things is whether or not the good hand outweighs the bad hand. And if so then by how much?

What bad has come from capitalism? It's not perfect but is there anything better?

Government decisions being driven by the interests of billionaires instead of the common folk.

You have companies in the west, facebook, google, that are powerful enough to dictate national security.

Ok, that comes with the territory. You cannot win them all. With Communism worse things happen. Still seems to me that capitalism is the system with the least cons.

@Collagen or rope, I don't think you would like living in China.

China is arguably more capitalist than America post-Mao to pre-Xi.

I am not against capitalism and for communism. I am for whatever system works at that particular point in time.

Capitalism made China rich. Without capitalism, China would still be an agrarian shithole today. But it also made China corrupt, private entities too powerful, exacerbated the gap between wealthy and poverty, and caused the CCP to forget its founding purpose of 'for the people'. This is a problem that must be fixed. And under Xi, it is being fixed.

I've witnessed the change by living in China from 2011 to 2021. Life has become more rigid for both foreigners living there as well as the local population. I guarantee you would hate it. Ten years ago it was a great place to live. Do you think Chinese people have any kind of fun? In China there's only 吃吃吃, 参观购物, 热闹, and 过日子. It's like living in a real life version of the sims.

Be careful. Go back at the wrong time and you might be stuck.

Cameras are EVERYWHERE and the social credit system hasn't even touched most cities yet. But it's coming. It will blanket every aspect of life in China.

China's on the path to becoming what would have been Kim Jong-Il's wet dream. If you grew up in the West, and I don't care who you are, you'll be screaming with every fibre of your being to get out if you get stuck in a place like that.

And you're not gonna rise to any significant position if you're not a homegrown Chinese.

I'd advise you to go to LA and become a Wah Ching instead. Start gangbanging with some fellow Asians. You'll have better life prospects.

Rapid increases in quality of life and prosperity for some degree of personal freedom. From 2011 to 2021, GDP rose from 7 to 16 trillion. That's a deal I'm willing to take.

It's all standing on a house of cards. The foundation is no good. A facade.

I hear this a lot but there is always no explanation that follows. How is it a house of cards? Do you doubt China's numbers? The economic progress and infrastructure is plain to see. Just compare photos of Shanghai or Shenzhen 50 years a part. This is a country that practically skipped the industrial revolution.

Like I said, the deal has been sacrifice some of your personal freedoms, and in return we will deliver extraordinary improvements to your quality of life and standard of living. For a people who remember their country being poorer than Africa some 30 odd years ago, this is a good deal.

A lot of countries skipped the industrial revolution. What matters in China is the things that you don't see unless you've veen there. Yes China is untruthful with numbers and all kinds of information. Yes they manipulate the value of currency. You don't see all the things in China that just don't work.

The biggest thing that makes China's economy a house of cards is the fact that it's all directly controled by the party. And within the party corruption in the chain of command is unlike anything you'd ever believe. It's a way of life far too ingrained in the leadership to ever correct. No amount of calculated purging will ever bring an end to it.

I acknowledge that China has a problem with corruption and still does. It's something that isn't possible to wipe out completely as it is endemic to humanity.

I disagree that corruption hasn't significantly reduced under Xi's tenure. CIA used to have an entire network within the CCP. Now they rely purely on Taiwanese spies.

I won't change your mind, and you will not change mine. Lets just wait and see how this plays out.
