The portuguese that came to brazil are mainly from Northern portugal, a region known as Galícia (which has the modern day city of Porto and others) thats why they are more brown than the rest of the portuguese and our languages/dialects are more similar - brazilian portuguese is more similar to Galego dialect than to the Portuguese of Lisbon
Possibly the word "Galego" comes from "Gaelic/Celtic", as the original Galego people are from the Celtic bronze/iron age ethnogroup
