I think you can but not 100% necessary.

iirc one doctor was telling me that they get absorbed or something and dont show up on scans.

however the doc wasnt a bimax/jaw specialist so dont know how much I'd trust that

Yeah the plates sadly get absorbed by the bones since the bone kinda grows upon them. To remove them you would first have to remove some of the bone again. I know it’s done rarely in bsso but I was wondering if a surgeon will deny the request on a lf1 cuz of bigger risk and no necessity

I'm not too sure tbh. haven't spoken to surgeons about the specifics of taking out plates

best to speak to them directly

Your expectations are warped. This is a very normal bimax result, in terms of facial improvement. Given that this is minor facial improvement that will last a lifetime, and he is experiencing functional improvements, it was well worth it for him.
