I mean before the surgery he should say how many mms he wants to move ur bottom jaw and upper jaw and maybe also chin. If he is a bluepilled surgeon that only gives like 6-8mm bsso if you are really recessed, then he is probably bad. Ask for largest advancement possible, even if it means rate of relapse is higher. Also ask him if he does ccw. U want to have ccw as long as ur occlusal plane is not negative.

for his extreme limit , maybe he will it give you projection like alfaro but if he give you good advancement it still okay
