Last night (Friday, April 24), I went out with some friends from my class: me (lhtn 5’11) and four other guys (one ltn and the other three ranging from mtns to hmtns).
There were also seven girls (five we won’t consider and two highly appealing lhtbs—one of them, though, has a boyfriend and is genuinely in love, so she’s not a possible slay).
The night started around 10. We all met up at a bar and sat outside. Each of us got a drink, and once we finished, we moved on to shots—vodka and tequila.
The “slayable” htb had about 10 shots between vodka and tequila, so she was really out of it, along with another girl. One of the guys went up to her and started hugging her, and she hugged him back because she was extremely drunk—it wasn’t a great scene to watch. But realistically, after 10 shots and a drink, most people would react without thinking. With that much alcohol in your system, your judgment is basically gone.
Around midnight, me and three of the guys were supposed to leave (my parents are actually pretty flexible with times, but I wanted to walk part of the way with them). I bought some water for the girl who wasn’t feeling well and told her we were about to head out. As soon as I finished talking, she asked if I could walk her to the bathroom. Of course I said yes, and we headed there together, holding onto each other, since the bathrooms at our bar were occupied.
During that short walk, I teased her a bit and we started a small conversation. She told me she didn’t know I was going to be there that night—which means I had crossed her mind at least a little. Honestly, I’m glad I had a drink or two, because with my usual high inhibition I probably wouldn’t have started any conversation.
After a few minutes we got to the bar nearby and went into the bathroom. I walked her inside, then stepped out and left the door unlocked, telling her to knock if she needed anything. Not even 30 seconds later, she asked me to come in to “keep her company.” She was really too drunk, though, so doing anything even slightly flirty wouldn’t have been right—for her or for me.
Not long after, the rest of the group showed up and interrupted the moment, including the guy who had hugged her earlier. He started shouting and basically took over helping her. I didn’t want to come across as too attached, so I stepped back.
We ended up walking her home. On the way, I stayed behind talking with some friends while that guy supported her, like I had done earlier when taking her to the bathroom.
The next morning (today), I texted her to ask how she was doing and if she had recovered. We had a short conversation, but she ended it after a few messages by liking my last message, so I didn’t push it further. I’ll see how she acts in class on Monday.
Takeaway: when someone has had that much to drink, they’re not really in a state to make clear decisions. The right move is to make sure they’re safe, not to try to take advantage of the situation.
The most important thing is to fave face and don’t seem like a freak.
Stay safe, y’all.
