Yes, it is but only if it was raised in good conditions. And if you get sick switch the butcher. Also horse meat is low in fat try to get it(fat) from other animal source

Raw butter. You can also try "сало"(idk the name in english).And you never have to eat fat witjout anything on the side. I put butter in dates and it tastes pretty good.

What is the reason you hate it? texture?
