Stretchmarks are not just a cosmetic
Many people say that stretch marks are just "cosmetic" and have no effect on your body, simply looking like tiger stripes. Well, they aren't. Especially if you are in the process of losing weight. Stretch marks are scars in your skin, and scars possess zero elasticity, meaning the elasticity you need for your skin to retract back to its smaller shape when losing weight is going to be 80% more difficult. Because of this, the probability of having no loose skin is very, very low.
However, if you only need to lose 50 pounds overall, that is not so bad. But stretch marks will slowly go from bright red to a silverish white, regardless of your original skin tone. And whenever you press your skin, they become more visible.
How to Fix Stretchmarks
While there are virtually no ways to completely get rid of stretch marks, if they are still red or pink, I have found the perfect solution on how to eliminate 80% of the stretch marks in the area. This is no bullshit, this is scientifically proven by many studies.
First, get the most important thing, which is Tretinoin.
For body skin and stretch marks, a higher concentration (0.1%) is typically recommended compared to facial use, as the skin on the body is thicker. Altreno is a great alternative for those with very dry skin.
I developed a method called the three step method.
Wash the area with a mild cleanser like Cerave Hydrating Cleanser. Pat dry and wait 20 minutes. Applying to damp skin causes irritation.
Use a pea-sized amount per area. Dot the Tretinoin cream directly along the stretch marks and massage in until clear.
Wait 10 minutes, then apply a thick moisturizer (e.g., La Roche-Posay Lipikar AP+M) to prevent peeling.
DO NOT USE IF PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING.
Tretinoin increases sun sensitivity. If your stretch marks are visible to the sun (thighs, shoulders), apply SPF 50 daily even if it's cloudy.
