He was the guy who conceived the name "sociology", and one of the precursors of that field of study... in Brazil we learn about him at school (well, at least I learned about him at school) since he was quite influential among the brazilian elites in the 19th and 20th centuries, even the phrase that is on our flag - "Ordem e Progresso" - is a positivist slogan ("positivism" being his philosophy about life and shit).

Decided to write about him just to know if you guys also learn about him and his philosophy at school, because it seems like the rest of the people from around the world has no fucking idea who he was LMAO. He also created a religion, the "religion of humanity", and there are only 4 surviving churches of his religion around the world, 3 in Brazil and one in France (where he was born).

I'm reading his books mostly to understand the development of my country (or, to be more specific, it's "academic elite")

Since, as I said, he was pretty influential here in Brazil some centuries ago.
