I'm more into manga these days but to answer your question I read bits of it but I found the main girl MCs to be absolutely dreadfully annoying, didn't enjoy the story at all. Have you even read Slam Dunk? It's one of the most best-selling manga of all time with 120 million copies in circulation with like 30 volumes. It's a basketball manga and I don't even like the sport but I love the manga and consider it one of my favourite and one of the best of all time.

Real is centred around basketball but it's not about the game but the journey of the people.
