Probably from having a short mandible, i.e the jaw looks fully developed but is too small for the rest of the face

Could be. In my case, my two upper central teeth bend 'down' and backwards. So I can still pierce a sandwich, even with the overjet.

Tbh downgrowth and craniofacial deformities are a hard thing to model. It's tough to know exactly what caused it, but it's usually a mix between bad oral posture, lip seal, mouthbreathing and lack of chewing.

But some things are hard to determine on a case by case basis. For example, some ppl with very downgrown maxillas have no visible dorsal hump. Meanwhile, I have a rather prominent one (not insanely bad, tho), but my maxilla is fine.
