All quiet on the western front is killer but its in black and white and its old and everyone hates that for some reason. Paths of glory is another old one but I thought it was good. If you want to see action with shit getting blown up and people getting mowed down there are quite a few vietnam war movies like that. I though Platoon was really good for that. Full metal jacket, apocalypse now, those arent really action movies though. Im trying to remember this one movie that was good, it was from the chinese perspective in WWII and I thought it was pretty good, made recently but I cant remember the name. inglorious basterds, not really about the war direcrly but takes place during WWII
