Reddit has chatrooms now?

I used to be on it when it was just the nerds (old layout). I haven’t used it in a while except when I land there from Google search. Now, it has chatrooms and channels and shit. It’s fairly normie-fied but I get the feeling it’s still looked down upon. Like I would not want to get caught in public browsing it.
