There are some specific aspects of humans that are only present in humans due to Female Sexual Selection. The most famous being penis size. Male penis size is relatively much larger compared to bodysize compared to other apes. This automatically debunks the "size doesnt matter" cope that is trotted out. Some nations/tribes also having mythical average heights are also primarily due to sexual selection since diet alone does not guarantee height. Otherwise Southern European nations too would have mythical average heights.
With that being said, lets start at the real point. Religion is a good thing for human society when it comes to preventing the hedonistic spiral. When survival becomes relatively trivial, tgriving becomes the priority. People will never be satisfied, hence they always compare themselves to top 1%, not only that but they truly desire the top 1% too. Religion controls this by adding interesting constraints on human population. I am not going into detail but you probably already know. However it also introduces opression which is undesirable. It also does not stop the problem of secrecy which still allows people to get into hedonism spirals.
Of course as society becomes secular, some theorise that forcing religion down people's throats again will work. But I think that we are already in too deep into the hedonistic spiral to ever go back. What then could be the solution to our problem ?
The problem is fundamentally that of dysgenics. We got higher kin and community sizes way too fast, leading to abnormal level of dysgenics. Combine that with the fact that mankind is still built to live in forest and you get the classi case of built in feudalism of happiness that will perpetually plague our society. The band aid solution is to spread toxic positivity to fool the masses. But it wont work as knowledge becomes democratised.
