I agree with some of your sentiment towards religion but I think that it is not completely bad. I think morals and rules are important to maintain society and religion gives people a template of morals they can follow. I can understand that as a individual you can choose to not follow the rules of society and ultimately that choice is yours to make. I am also areligious but I think religion can provide people hope and a sense of control when they lack those. For example imagine if a person's house burned down, they would have little control over something like that. Now I think that religion can also be dangerous since often believers will blindly follow what their faith teaches rather than thinking about things themselves.
