The facts are that most humans struggle to live without religion, and in almost all cultures throughout history, religion is formed, however different they may be.
So, by the suicide rates, that would obviously suggest that being religious is better, whether that religion is true or not. But problems start to arise in different areas, and it all depends on people’s opinions of what is worth it for the benefits such as lower suicide rates. For example, some would argue we should prioritise technological development, which many religions actually limit, as can be seen in certain periods of history. For those people, religion may therefore seem like a negative impact on humanity. Others would argue that humans are happier living out their natural, primal lifestyles and we have no actual reason to develop science and technology. Most religions would not go against this and so those people may be more likely to support religion.
So what’s the solution? Well there are a few but I can’t be bothered to name them or give details cause no one’s gonna read this fucking thread anyway, but one of them could be a new religion that somehow ties all other religions and science together to create a perfect religion that nobody can prove wrong, even if it’s all made up. Over time everybody would switch to that religion and be happy while humanity still progresses and individuals can do whatever the fuck they want (as long as it’s not negatively impacting others) and that’s one less war being fought, ur welcome everybody.
Of course this is massively simplified and the actual topic is so much more complex that people spend decades studying it.
