While I'm not black, I come from a working class background in a big latin-american metropolis marked by big social inequality, so I can understand when he comments about black folks getting too atached to religion as their only hope to cope in being raised in a bad enviroment, because in the last decades there was a big increase in evangelical protestantism among the working/lower classes in my country, and they are usually very fanatical about it.
