Since the start of our ages, religions have existed. Judaism, Paganism, Christianism, and later Islam. If you think a little bit about it, all the great wars that happened in Europe, have been because of ideological beliefs, such as "egira" in Spain (XIII-XIV) or the Great War of Constantinople. Besides the islamic expansion, also the lutheranism and protestantism were a great movement in Europe that caused a lot of deaths and genocides, as the war of religion (XVI-XVII). Also note the judaism, even nowadays causing a lot of deaths because "muh this was promised 4000 years ago". Religions are truly a disgrace, the human always was free to choose his will and never needed any religion to block his beliefs.
