Sentencing and Release
On July 8, 2026, two court documents were filed in anticipation for Daniel's sentencing on July 21, 2026. Both documents were submitted by United States attorney Jasand Mock. The first document formally requested the dismissal of six charges that had already been dropped months earlier. [49] The other document recommended Judge Rodriguez to reduce Daniel's sentence as he had taken accountability and pled guilty to the remaining charge. [50]Daniel was officially sentenced by judge Regina M. Rodriguez on July 21, 2026. He was sentenced with time served, and was to be released from prison[51], with release plans organized by his care team.[52] These plans entailed private housing with a caregiver and his devices being monitored by probation for outside interactions.[53]
Further release conditions were set, these being:
- Probation/supervision period lasting 2 years.
- Random DNA and drug testing.
- Forbidden from setting passwords on his devices.
- Mandatory taking of all prescribed medications.
- Destruction of his old Motorola phone.
- Forbidden from contacting officials named in the case.
During the hearing, judge Rodriguez supposedly gave Daniel a motivational speech about making change and progress. Daniel was also set to be chaperoned in public. Alongside that, 20 or so law students were also present for the hearing.[55]
