Germans couldn't cope that an empire could last 1500 years straight, and that they could only manage to conquer the shit western provinces and not the east, so they invented a new term "Byzantine Empire" that is still used till this day because of the Eternal Anglo .
Inb4 "umm they were greeks tho, not Roman " the most common and insane cope, thats only said by low iq cels who don't know Roman History.
Reminder that the Roman Empire never actually even split like its commonly believed by normies, thats a layman term, in reality the "split" was just an administrative split, similar to how federations function today while being the same country. Basically it was one country with 2 capitals and Emperors, that lasted uninterrupted from 27bc to 1204 ad.
The Greek language was always the most common language in the Roman Empire, even during Augustus, literally half of his Empire spoke Greek and not Latin, while the other half spoke a mix of latin, other italic languages, galic, punic, berber, etc.
Wealthy Romans also spoke more greek then latin between eachother, and the Roman culture was like 50% greek from the start.
I think this comes from the Media and the Anglos again, steryotyping the Romans always with those same Square shieds and shit, to make normies doubt Eastern Rome and how roman they were.
