Reporting on the war in Ukraine makes no sense

American media talks as if there is all out war in Ukraine, with heavy armament, heavy casualties, machine guns and carpet bombings

But then they provide headlines like "Tank Enters Ukrainian City" or "Man Shot by Russian Soldier in Ukrainian Village" as if that is something to report on? Like it is, after all, a war right? Implying like in the context of a full blown war there is a necessity of reporting on individual cases of someone being shot here and there. Very bizarre.

I need to see people reporting from the battles. Really getting into the thick of it. If it's an actual war, not cute little skirmishes here and there, you wouldn't think it's necessary to give a headline about a tank simply entering a town.

During WW1 did the media give a headline "German Man shoots French civilian" to report on the Battle of the Somme? Would such an inconsequential event appropriately capture the gravity of the conflict? They either have reporters who are desperate to write anything, or the news source's overall characterization of the conflict is overblown.

Given the way Zelensky talks about a lot of the conflict occurring, you would think its Okinawa 2.0 but when i see the actual reporting about it, it feels like Hatfields vs. McCoys
