Retainers stunt facial development?

Long story short, I was blindly lead into the ortho at the age of 13- since the concept of braces is deemed “normal” and the consequences on facial development is the least of orthodontist’s concerns. I’m now 19 and have been wearing the same retainers for 5 years EVERY night to keep my teeth in place. My question being, can consistent usage of retainers recesses or prevent forward growth or maxillary expansion?

Are you sure its class 2? class 2 elastics fixes overbite if im not mistaken. I got a class 3 and I Lowkey got reccessed with it as it makes my lower jaw go backwards to fix my slight under bite.

I wore class two elastics for about 6 months as part of my orthodontic treatment, and it didn't cause downward mandibular growth (I have a good gonial angle and mandibular plane angle), for all my anecdotal opinion is worth.
