Retinol (animal based vitamin A) has improved my sense of smell

I notice fine scents alot easier now, didn't even know that theres actual science behind this where vitamin A has profound regenerative effects on the olfactory tissues.

Woke up today and was able to smell what my room smells like after sleeping which hasn't happened in like forever

Does it necessarily has to be animal based vitA? I've used plant based retinol for 2 months, couldn't notice much difference.
