Retractive orthodontics (Help needed)

Hi,

As a child i had orthodontics i guess because my lower jaw had crowding causing one of my lower incisors to grow a little behind the other front teeth. They took it out and i was put on traditional braces for a few years while also using some nightly device (Now in the process of getting information from my childhood clinic to understand what exactly was done)

My question is, has anyone experienced something similar where they had orthodontics without many extractions, but still feel like it ruined their face?
I personally think i was a very nice looking kid before the orthodontic work, and i can't help but wonder how my life would have been without it. I am 21 years old now.

I have noticed that i have a flat upper jaw now and i have very prominent nasolabial folds despite being young, fit and healthy. Even in the after photos you can see my middle face being sort of "sunken" and nasolabial folds appearing.

If anyone has any idea how this could be reversed i would be very grateful. Serious answers only. I hope this thread can be useful for others in the same boat.

Get double jaw asap

Traditional braces during development will inhibit proper maxillary/mandibular growth, I had a class II that was camouflaged without extractions, 9 years later I was told by multiple surgeons I need double jaw surgery for a variety of medical issues with a narrow airway.

But you cannot make any assumptions, some
are fine with braces and it doesn’t impact depending on the class of the bite, get a CBTC scan from a real oral surgeon and see what you are really looking at, but don’t fall into the idea that you “could have” been different because at least you can control the current situation.
