REVEAL: I am a professional trader earning 400K GBP a year - AMA

How high iq does someone need to be to do this?

Do you deal with crypto as well or no?

For university, do you think it’s better to be outside of or in London?

Doesn't matter what you score on an IQ test. What matters is your PnL and execution proof, your algorithm design skills, your ability to build and execute relentlessly and solve complex problems under time pressure. London is better for everything, so I'd have to say London or NYC for college if you want to end up being a Trader there. But then again, your college stuff doesn't really matter. You need to stand out and be the right fit. There's no bullshitting. I think interview acceptance rates are like 1/200 - 1/300. Year 1 sign on money is more than most jobs yearly salary in most top quant shops.

What are the best ways to network for a newcomer in this field, especially while they’re still in uni?

No I don't do too much options. I don't pick stocks either. Investing wise I just go with broad indices. A lot of the tech sector
So do you just hold long term and wait for a specific % increase? since you make so much I assume you have a cut off and maximum tolerance for risk and profit. How does that work exactly?

Computer programming, maths/stats/probability courses etc... Anyone who's done a trading internship, ask them too

No, that's what I do with personal crypto trading. Professional trading is more market making, stat arb, latency arb, market microstructure edge + huge capital deployment. I don't profit share in desk PnL yet but base comp + bonus is very good.

How do you prove the origin of your money? Let's say you've earned enough money to buy an apartment over several years of trading, but they're asking for proof of where the money came from. How do you prove it?
I'm still waiting for an answer:lul:
