Revealing my major ITT

I’m majoring in Education. I’m studying to become a teacher! I like how nobody guessed it right. That’s why I always try to use proper grammar, and it’s also why I correct people’s spelling mistakes. Not to be a know-it-all, but because it’s literally going to be my job. So why not get into the spirit early on? The other day, @acm said interacting with me unironically improved his grammar. That seriously made my day. What more could a future teacher want to hear?!
Those ignorant children will never know how lucky they are to be educated by a chad org moderator

Hahaha. I believe someone else was a teacher here but I forgot who and what subject he taught.
I remember there was a really bad boy I taught in Fuqing. His name was Youxiang. He was very smart and enjoyed spending time at the school, but he was antisocial. My Chinese co workers all hated him. This school was more of a co teaching thing. They'd have one class with the foreign teachers and one class with the Chinese teachers. I'd have to sit in during the last 10 minutes of the Chinese teachers classes though.

Thank you for the reality check, I appreciate it. You’re right, I shouldn’t be expecting an easy-going class. I was actually thinking that perhaps I should start off easy, and get used to difficult classes as I gain more experience. I’ll admit that I first thought I should actually pick a harsher environment, but I know myself. I tend to get demotivated easily and I feel like taking smaller steps is the best way for me to go about this. I’m really interested in your experiences, man! Would you mind sharing them? You can send me a private message as well. By the way, don’t take this the wrong way. I’m not trying to stay in my comfort zone. I’m already getting out of my comfort zone. Even during my study. I’m required to film myself. For the longest of times, I’ve avoided these situations exactly because they made me uncomfortable. For my upcoming assignment I have to do a video recording of myself. I’m going to do it because there’s no other way around it. I’m getting out of my comfort zone little by little. That makes sense as to why you quit teaching. You’re right, especially in the west they require you to have a degree. Is this not the case in Russia? It also wasn’t the case in East Asia at first, lots of people went there to teach but now they’re required to have a degree. I won’t be going there to teach since they only want white teachers since East Asians seem to think only white people can teach others English.
Native speakers can teach without a degree. And we're going to have residence so we won't need a work visa anyways.

China technically always required a degree but up until 2022 I'd say at least 45% of the foreign teachers didn't have one. Fake paperwork is the way things are always done in China anyway. I've had a few fake degrees there.

In China I used to teach with a lot of Uzbeks who just told the clients they were American.

Cambodia needs no degree and Vietnam is still one of those grey areas where it's still widely accepted to break those rules.

Companies I worked for in China would actually cook up a fake degree for me and use it to apply for a work visa on my behalf. Most years though I just taught on a tourist visa or a fake student visa. Never studied in China but I was living there as a "student" for so many years.

oh sick what grades are u gonna be teaching?
I don’t know yet, probably first three years of high school, I’m not allowed to teach juniors and seniors because you need a Master’s in Education since they’ll be going to college/university after their national exams.

I actually have a classmate who’s a co-teacher, but he’s in SPED. I’m one of the few people with zero experience in my classes. And yes, native speakers of English have some privileges that I wouldn’t have. But not that it matters, I don’t want to go to another country to go into teaching, I want to stay in The Netherlands, so this is fine for me. But it’s kind of a small world. My neighbor and former classmate in elementary school went to China to become a soccer coach, he spent a year or two there. He wasn’t even a professional player, just an amateur player; but they thought he looked like a professional soccer player so they hired him. Strange how that works. I asked how the hell he ended up there and he said someone else recommended it to him. I would never in a million years guess that he would go to China. He’s a Moroccan Berber, so while he wasn’t stereotypically white, he had light skin, hazel eyes, black hair and just a prettyboy phenotype so it worked out well for him. Yet another blackpill.

Thanks bhai! Ahaha yeah it’s certainly a mindfuck but in a way it kind of makes sense. It’s like being a mod is a stepping stone for becoming a teacher. I am in a position of authority, there’s many young minds here and sometimes you gotta discipline them. Lowkey feels like being a teacher already.

Damn hahaha, that’s really cool. While I wouldn’t do that, I admit it seems pretty cool to do something like that. I’m just not the type of person who wants to be far away from home. I don’t even like traveling!

The pay is decent, but you also get most days off. I’m not doing it for the pay or for the days off, I’m doing it because it’s the only thing I see myself doing in terms of a career. You get paid during summer vacation as well, and a 13th salary as well at the end of the year. So, that’s nice, but not why I am doing this.

Nah, I’ve noticed Dutch students are more respectful (unless they’re ethnic lol). Plus I’m not Indian so they won’t mock me. :ogre:
