Mirin bro, best of luck to you on that. Out of curiousity though is my grammar okay?
Thank you, and yes, your grammar is more than okay! Mine is far from perfect, mind you. There’s always room for improvement.

That’s very much true. But I’ll have you guys know I’m not even the oldest person in class! There’s like 10 others in total and they’re in their mid-thirties to early-fifties. The youngest person in my class is 21. If everything goes according to plan, I’ll graduate in my early thirties. :feelsautistic:
I hope it all pans out for you :Comfy:

Thank you for the nice words! I do think I’d be a well-liked teacher. :feelsautistic:

According to literature, being all bhai-bhai with the students isn’t good because they don’t see you as an authority figure. As teachers, we need to find the right balance so that students won’t lose their respect.

Which lowkey sucks because I’m the kind of guy who’s very easygoing and chill, and not uppity at all. But during the course of my study, I must do that as well (being uppity, very serious, etc), otherwise I won’t pass. Sadly…
It's gonna take a while to find that balance bhai but we all believe in you and you will do well:feelsautistic:

They get paid decently. There’s also certain benefits. Teachers, for instance, have the most days off (including the summer break, which they get paid for). There’s also a so-called “thirteenth month” where you get another salary at the end of the year, so if you make €2,000 normally, you’ll get €4,000. But I didn’t do it for those benefits. I just don’t see myself doing anything else other than this.

I’m majoring in Education. I’m studying to become a teacher! I like how nobody guessed it right. That’s why I always try to use proper grammar, and it’s also why I correct people’s spelling mistakes. Not to be a know-it-all, but because it’s literally going to be my job. So why not get into the spirit early on? The other day, @acm said interacting with me unironically improved his grammar. That seriously made my day. What more could a future teacher want to hear?!

We actually had some debate in class about this a few weeks ago. We believe that even though AI has obviously seeped into our lives and has taken over a lot of things, there’s some things related to teaching that a machine could never replicate. That personal student-teacher bond is something AI cannot do. Humans still need human interaction, especially in this field.

Of course, I’d love to! I hope I can actually be of some help. Because I’m in the NL and it will be teaching English as a Second Language instead, so it will be different. A lot less focus on literature, for example.

yeah I was wondering whether it'd actually be teaching English as a language or deep literary analysis. even if you arent a literary English teacher i hope you can still be of help with my essays. I have a multimedia assignment this term (pretty much a video) and ill send u the transcript when I can

Yes, it would be teaching English as a language; however, during my studies, I’m going into depth when it comes to grammar, as well as literature. For sure, send me over what you have and I’ll take a look!

You can always become a teacher for a computer science subject. When I was studying computer science in 2023, my coding teacher was literally my age (or half a year older, lol) and while there are no official coding education majors here, he was allowed to become a teacher because he had all the knowledge. It was pretty interesting to witness.

Inshallah they never find your account/post history on here 💀 you'd be cooked, bhai

That's a noble goal tho, to go from being NEET to becoming a teacher. I assume you'll be teaching English? Or other subjects too?

Ahahahha yeah they’d fire me on the spot if they knew about my posting history. :ROFLMAO:

Thank you! I think my Buddhist ancestors would be proud, too, since they created the oldest university in the world. :Comfy:

Yes, I’ll be teaching English as a second language, since I’m in a non-English-speaking country!

If I want to teach other subjects, I’d have to change my major, or do a minor in my third year and then once I finish that minor, another two years of studying to become qualified for that subject as well. But I’ll just stick to English since that’s the only thing I’m good at. :Comfy:

The real challenge is learning how to teach. They are modernizing teachers, the teachers of today are so different from the teachers back in my day. There’s new theories on education that have shaped the curriculum. Even as a teacher, I’ll have to incorporate these new theories into my own teaching. I guess that’s why they say you’re never too old to learn. :ogre:

Nah ahahah, they don’t hire brown non-English-speaking guys. The only time they do is when you’re brown but also from the UK, US, Canada, etc. Plus, realistically speaking, I only see myself teaching here in The Netherlands.
