Introduction: What is Riboxin?
Riboxin is the Russian brand name for Inosine, a naturally occurring nucleoside that plays a vital role in ATP energy metabolism. Originally developed in the soviet era to treat clinical heart conditions like ischemic heart disease and arrhythmias it was quickly repurposed and used by (for example) boxing coaches who were (they still do to this day) giving their fighters riboxin so they could significantly elevate their endurance, and train multiple times a day without getting tired/last more rounds in sparrings/fights.



Mechanism of action: How does it works?
When you do intense cardio sessions, your muscles and heart have to produce and regenerate huge amounts of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) while maintaining oxygen and blood flow to the working tissues. Riboxin is interesting because it is involved in purine and nucleotide metabolism, which are connected to cellular energy production. In studies, it's shown that Riboxin can influence myocardial energy metabolism and help maintain energy availability during metabolic stress. Riboxin has also been shown to affect coronary circulation and promote coronary vasodilation, improving blood flow to the heart when its oxygen and energy demands are high. Lastly Riboxin was involved in increasing 2,3-DPG in red cells preparations, which influences how readily hemoglobin releases oxygen to tissues. The benefit for intense cardio sessions cardio is therefore that Riboxin supports the metabolic and cardiovascular systems involved in repeated efforts and recovery.


Cardiovascular support: How does it helps ur hearth?
During intense cardio sessions, the cardiovascular system is placed under significant metabolic and oxygen demand stress. Riboxin has been investigated for its cardioprotective and anti-ischemic effects, with studies suggesting that it supports myocardial energy metabolism and help maintain cardiac function during periods of reduced oxygen availability. These effects are relevant during intense exercises.

Dosages and cycles: I’d recommend taking around 1.5g to 2.5g daily taken before cardio sessions or prior to meals, you should "run" this 4-6 weeks, "hop" off 4 weeks before taking it again.

Side effects: While generally well tolerated, Riboxin is metabolized into uric acid, so high doses or prolonged use may increase uric acid levels and potentially trigger gout, particularly if you're a susceptible individual.

Disclaimer + Personal experience: Before anyone comes I know most of the benefits from Riboxin shown in studies were mostly when it was experienced on animals since human evidence is more limited and mixed.
HOWEVER, I don't think it would've been that much used in Russia and especially by boxers if it didn't work, and ik it's anecdotal but I'm a chechen born in europe and last summer when I went back there I trained boxing for a whole month, and I couldn't keep up training multiples times a day because of how exhausting those sessions were, that's when I was introduced to Riboxin by other fighters at the gym and I can tell you for a fact that it worked really well for me, the last 2 weeks of training when I was taking Riboxin before going back to Europe I could keep up with the trainings, and my cardio had gotten significantly better from it.
