Rick and Morty actually isn't bad

I always thought it was the kind of show that corny nerds in a niche community glaze, and refused to watch it for years. I only gave it a try because the tiktok clips are somewhat fun.

But it's actually pretty fun to watch. It's not a 'background' show like family guy (you need to pay some attention), and has intresting storytelling with very creative ideas. It doesn't get boring quick since i watched all 8 seasons in basically less than a month.

I don't think it's a masterpiece and deserves some insane glaze but i definitely enjoyed watching it while eating food or preparing my meals.

My only complaint is how insanely unbearable the voices of some of the characters are, but i guess you do get used to it after a while.

The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existential catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.

From personal experience the first season is hard to get into at first but it gets better (and worse) with time

Like you know, the show peaks in the mid-seasons but after that it's just lowkey being milked.

Yeah, but its actually pretty good, and it doesn't require a phd in nerdness to understand. Just a comedy show with intresting sci-fi world building. It has concepts that i haven't seen done in any other media.
