Why does my washed, masculine, ugly faced mother crash out over me smoking weed when my older sister is ran through?

Mind you I am significantly better than her in studies/ uni

Your mother expects higher of you, thats why shes harder on you?

Or your sister is her fav idk :feelscry:

Smoking weed might seem like a chill shortcut to feeling relaxed, but if you zoom out for more than five seconds it starts looking like one of those β€œthis felt like a good idea at the time” decisionsβ€”because instead of actually fixing stress, boredom, or whatever’s going on, it just pauses it and then hands it back to you slightly worse, like a game you left running in the background that now has twice as many problems; and while we’re at it, comparing yourself to your sister is basically the fastest way to feel miserable for no reason, because you’re measuring your behind-the-scenes against someone else’s highlight reel, ignoring the fact you’re built differently, think differently, and probably care about different things even if no one says it out loud, so it’s a rigged comparison from the start; and grades, yeah, they matter in a technical sense but not in the dramatic, life-defining way people act likeβ€”no employer is going to pause your entire existence because of one bad test, and nobody with a functioning brain thinks a single number fully represents how smart, capable, or useful you are, so stressing yourself into the ground over them just burns energy you could’ve used to actually get better or figure out what you’re good at; basically, numbing yourself, comparing yourself, and obsessing over numbers is like stacking three unnecessary handicaps on your own progress and then wondering why things feel harder than they should.
