A few centuries before Rome collapsed this plant called "Silphium"
was found in certain doses to act as good as modern birth control. It had many negative effects like increased sexual immorality and dropping birth rate...

Its very odd how they had both lowering birth rates in the negatives and increased sexual immorality similar to us. Birth control should be banned it was likely the reason Rome fell. The plant was harvested to extinction and remaining seeds were burned so the mystery of the first effective birth control died with Rome it would take up until the modern age until modern birth control was perfected and allowed to be sold

declining birth rates hedonism these are not solely due to industrialization it has happened many times before Rome being the largest example it was in many ways similar to our societies and was 100 years away from being industrial

Rome is the closest we have to our society in terms of degeneracy. Rome was quite literally 100 years away from industrialization our societies are both industrial and degenerate.

Although in some ways we have far surpassed Rome in terms of degeneracy

Edward Dutton made a fantastic video about this subject.

The problem with modern society is there is no where left to go... In the past societies did not take so many resources from the Earth. If society fully collapses today where will people go? The entire world is corrupted not just a single area.

We cannot just restart like in the past nations have nuclear bombs half the fossil fuel on earth is depleted aswell. There will be no reset if mankind cannot get his act straight but I suppose it was always destined to be this way. Revelations may be unavoidable...

I've enjoyed reading about the glories of Rome from Caesar to Aurelius but only recently heard of this plant.
I always thought they got fucked by barbarian hordes and that was it.
According to "Sex and Culture", sexual liberation always leads to the weakening and eventual collapse of a civilization.

Great nations usually die internally before they are killed by something externally. Rome was already dead by the time the Barbarians destroyed it.

Sexual liberation is part of the reason it died. But it also signifies a society that is decadent and no longer has any values. A society that believes in nothing will let women run amuck. That's how societies die they begin to gradually believe in nothing as all the hardships and lessons taught to them become obscured.

Basically the whole weak men create hard times cycle.
Funny no one seems to want to learn from their mistakes.

I don't think its an inevitable cycle there were plenty of ways we could have deviated. The elite and their greed have so corrupted the world that they have burned faster then they can spread. Imagine a forest fire that consumes so much that burns quicker then it can spread.

Their arrogance and the arrogance of most people has killed us. I don't know if it was inevitable or not but it certainly is appearing that way now unless something changes. But to say that this was always meant to be would be wrong many people chose this to be the case.

It still isn't completely clear to me if sexual liberation in itself is the cause of these collapses or if it is merely a symptom. I think to some extent these statements are both true a decadent society allows it to occur and sexual immorality adds gasoline to the fire. You could really make an argument for either of these or both at the same time.

I hate anti-natalists. They should kill themselves.

But what we are seeing how is far more sinister due to the development of technology @Aypo129

It’s the agenda of trans-humanism which is destroying family.

Yeah things would have collapsed long ago if it were not for technology our society has declined more then rome but we also have modern technology to keep us alive and nukes.
