So much credit and emphasis of the making of the modern world is attributed with Rome (how often do you think about the Roman Empire gay shit), while their feats are undeniable I feel not enough credit is given to the forced inheritors of the empire - the Germanic peoples, some examples:

1) Every major European country has its origins of royal dynasties, powerful families and political/military might with the Germanic peoples, even places like Russia and Spain (exclusions are Poland, Hungary, baltics and balkans). While the majority of the local population remained native (Slavic, gallo-roman etc) the power base was Germanic

2) The world language of money is a Germanic language

3) Germanic law and judicial customs heavily influenced modern law

4) Rome never conquered Germania, but Germanic tribes conquered all of the Roman territories

5) Christendom - This is a significant source of European power historically and why it wasn’t taken over by Islamic forces despite the European kings being otherwise divided. While Christianity was born in the Middle East and fostered in Rome it was the Germanic people who brought it to maturity, what’s more is that it was not forced on the Germanic peoples by the sword (unless by other Germanic people) which shows a position of strength and ability to retain whichever pagan customs and traditions that they liked (which is why I think they first chose Arianism)

Am I wrong?

If you have to pick one, Rome. But ultimately they're joined at the hip and can't be entirely separated. It's like choosing between whether Irish Americans or anglo Americans contributed more

Nothing illustrates this better than us speaking a germanic language right now with about 60% Latin vocabulary

Accomplishments of germanic people have roman influence baked in(kaiser/Caesar, HRE, merovingians etc). Its a testament to Rome that they didn't have to conquer to have their influence felt for posterity

Good points. Germanic tribes didn’t have the intention on replacing Rome, they recognised Roman superiority in many many ways and simply wanted their share of Roman wealth, culture and way of life. But this is a testament to the Germanic tribes in recognising this and picking up the mantle of the empire and eventually the civilisation building that came with it, as opposed to say some mongols. While you say Rome ultimately had the greatest impact on the modern world, would you agree that the Germanic people and their dynasties are under-recognised in this regard?

Underrecognized yes. Large part because it's so easy to overlook how many things stem from germanic peoples. From legal systems as you mentioned to things like wearing pants or Christmas. It's easy to miss how outsized their influence is. Especially compared to romes other rivals

Kerala outlived and continued its dominance as the Spice and tradeoverlords of the world for a very long time longer than all these countries/civilization. It was thriving before Rome existed and continued well after, and today has ensured its safety and growth by being an obvious outlier in India with its nukes.!

Expect that the legacy of the Germanic tribes is directly unbroken from their inception until the modern era, Anatolian farmers replaced by/taken over by various peoples including the Greeks, Greek civilisation overtaken by Roman control, then Rome as a power was taken over by Germanic tribes and in doing so they reformed the Roman civilisation into the world we see today. Anatolian farmers have their impact but are eclipsed by more recent events

They're the same root people.

They are, but they were also different. Who does your vote go to?

Rome. What did the Germanics do? They lived in a forest while their more expeditious cousins had prime real estate to develop. Rome set up all the fundamentals. Germanics just inherited it and progressed with it as they were the rightful genetic inheritors of that legacy, once they gained that alpine mix of brown hair and blue eyes. Hitler was wrong. He and the anglos are the peak of Aryan supremacy, the blonde branch of our tribes were the ones who stayed behind and to this day are less successful. The compliments to Christianity are laughable. It was the cause of the division. It's when Germans were reunited with Greek ideas in the Renaissance that they found their true intellectual inheritance and catapulted themselves onwards with it.

I agree the Germanic tribes didn’t do much that was better or unique that Rome hadn’t already done other than warfare during that era. However, the dynasties that were founded in that era, by Germanic aristocracy, was very impactful on the modern world.

England, Spain, France, Netherlands, Germany etc were built not by Rome or Roman leaders, but by Germanic aristocracy. These countries are the making of the modern world, from here we see the cauldron of war that gives rise to the era of naval supremacy, discovery of new trading routes, the riches of the new world, the beginnings of globalisation, birth of USA, Industrial Revolution etc.

And who’s behind this? The kings and queens of Europe. The founding of these Royal houses which enabled, funded and armed all of these advancements are of Germanic origin particularly the Franks.

Nearly all English Royals and peerage go back to Anglo Saxon kings (Germanic) or Normans (Frankish-Vikings who are both Germanic)

Two of the main super powers of the world right now were bought into power by Germanic royal houses
- USA by England and France mainly
- Russia by Swedish Viking/Kievian Rus Rurik who’s dynasty only ended with the Romanovs and by then Russia was already a power house

What these nations did is directly the legacy of the Germanic tribes of the Roman era, not the direct legacy of the Roman people

I think that’s fair to say, though would you say the Germanics are the bridge between the originators to the modern era or would you attribute that to another group?

Germanics did a lot post dark ages that was very great, yes, redeeming themselves of a lot of the savagery and nonsense they did prior to the dark ages.

How is this even a question?
Germanics were jungle people before they met civilization.
Here is a fine example of

Northern European architecture before they met Romans

They focused on exploring the world, not on settling down

The past is important, it shaped us into the individuals we are and the societies we live today, but it's over, we should focus in the present, and in the present: Germanic countries >>>> Med ones, no arguing over it.

unironically this even though im a historycel. Nerds for some reason cant seem to understand that normies/popular people think their nerdy hobbies are cringe/gay/uncool. When talking to normies I NEVER bring up anything about history lmfao. I wonder if this comes from a lack of socialization, even though i was pretty much an outcaste myself, but i still understood the shit that i liked wasnt considered cool by normies and popular people either lol.

And those nerds/incels that use History in order to brag themselves. It goes like this: "my ancestors did this and that, they built this and that...", oh, shut up, Incel!

It’s the same paradigm as creepy vs mysterious. If incel then being historycel is a repulsion multiplier. But if you’re gl then foids be like “omg you know so much I always learn stuff from you it’s so hot”

This is based on roman architecture smartass.
Yes, and Roman architecture is based off Etruscan, Greek, Phoenician, Carthaginian, Egyptian architecture etc. This was one their great strengths they took what others did good, they made it their own and made it better. And this is exactly what the Germanics did too

ALL of these civilizations were created by the offsprings of neolithic farmers, like @StuntmanMike said.
Zero yamnayas hunther gatherers autistic upper paleolithic cromagnons among them.
